About me
My name is Joanna Clendinning
Being bilingual in Greek and English, with fluency in French, Spanish, and Portuguese, gave me a natural entry point into financial crime investigations; it meant access to original sources and local reports.Â
So, I fell into the niche world of financial crime in 2017, starting as an Anti-Money Laundering Analyst in PwC. A year later, I moved to News Corp’s Dow Jones as a researcher within its Risk & Compliance division before going on to run the Due Diligence team in 2020.Â
Managing a global team and tracking turnaround times was a great learning curve, but it took me away from the investigations – the real work that first drew me in.
At Gartner, I was a Writer within the financial services vertical, branching into a lot of other topics, specifically generative AI as this was a post-Chat-GPT world. It was fast-paced, dynamic, and a front-row seat to how emerging tech reshapes industries.
But I wanted more. More autonomy, and more hands-on investigative work. So, I went solo.
My Journey in Research and Writing
Throughout my career, I feel very privileged to have worked with some of the largest organisations in the corporate and financial space globally, as well as international sports teams and major rights holders.
As a freelancer, I am grateful to have worked on projects for the European Union Intellectual Property Office and the European Institute for Gender Equality, writing technical reports and shaping European policy proposals.
Over time, these experiences have allowed me to pinpoint the vital thread that runs through all my research. My writing delivers fresh insights that drive the decisions your business needs, no matter the challenge.
